About

The longer story behind the bullet points.

I'm an academic leader and PhD researcher in Artificial Intelligence, based in Concepción, Chile. My work sits at the intersection of three worlds I've moved through: engineering, data science in industry, and higher education.

I trained as an Industrial Engineer at Universidad del Desarrollo, then pursued a Master's in Engineering and a Diploma in Higher Education Teaching. Along the way I worked as a data scientist at companies like Uber (Uber Eats grocery, ranking and personalization), Cornershop (product analytics and experimentation), and BCI (customer segmentation, text analytics for client feedback). Today I'm Senior Data Scientist at X-Consulting on the industry side.

In parallel, teaching has been a constant thread. I've been a Visiting Lecturer at UDD since 2019, teaching across undergraduate and graduate programs — programming, databases, data visualization, business intelligence, and data-driven decision making. In 2023 I was recognized with the Teaching Excellence Award. In 2026 I stepped into academic leadership as Subdirector of the Computer Science and Technological Innovation Engineering program at UDD.

My doctoral research focuses on AI in education: how students actually interact with AI tools, what those patterns tell us about learning, and what they imply for educational equity. As large language models become part of how engineering students learn, I want to understand both the opportunities and the risks — empirically, with experimental designs that take the classroom seriously as a research setting.

Outside of work I care about gender equity in tech (an earlier line of my research used social media data to study gender differences in transport perception) and about making research accessible to practitioners. This site is part of that effort.
